About Us

Founded in 2006, Whetstone Designs is a team of designers dedicated to developing quality residential and light commercial timber frame house designs and design packages. Our company has worked with more than 100 clients on projects ranging from simple entry porches to full-frame homes of more that 5,000 square feet. We also have direct experience in the restoration of historical timber frame buildings. We are a flexible, agile company, capable of making your project come together seamlessly.

As your design and building consultants, we will always tell you the truth – not just what you want to hear. We have a deep and abiding love and respect for the construction field, particular in the timber-framing realm. Since 2001,we have been one of the developing ourselves as leading professionals working in the timber frame design field.

Brice Cochran

At the University of North Carolina he studied Philosophy and Mathematics and is the proud father of two children.
Brice has also just finished his own 3,000-square-foot timber frame home near Mountain Rest, SC.
He is a member of the Timber Framers Guild and the Timber Frame Engineering Council. In addition to maverick design skills, he also has plenty of hands-on experience as both a building project manager and a timber frame builder, so always feel free to ask him about any portion of the home building process.
